STATEPARK TIMELINE

2006 – a new state park on the islands in the Cedar Creek Reservoir (Stumpy Pond) was established in the Comprehensive Relicensing Agreement for the Catawba-Wateree system.

2015 – license for Catawba-Wateree System issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

2017 – Recreation Management Plan updated and SCPRT begins general Master Plan for State Park on Dearborn Island.

2018 – General map of development on Dearborn Island released by SCPRT

Sept. 2021 – Meetings held to discuss needs in Visitor’s Center for state park office, exhibit space, retail space, etc. SCPRT states goal of having park opened by the end of 2024.

July 2022 – expected signing of lease agreement of islands between SCPRT and Duke Energy

Late Fall/Winter 2024 – tentative date for completion of pedestrian bridge to Dearborn Island across Great Falls reservoir.

Early 2025 - Tentative Park opening
